Meditations and memories have a lot in common and this meditation focuses on meditating memories and a fond farewell. My memories of Brevard FUMC cover years! They started slowly but grew by leaps and bounds the more I got involved. (If this doesn’t sound like your life — perhaps you need to get more involved ?? – Ho!) To begin to list all my memories would take more time than you’d like to read about.
But let me just say that the Good Lord blessed me in countless days, events, activities and celebrations during my time with you all. I treasure them all!
But now it’s time for a fond farewell as I move my membership to Lima UMC, Media, PA. It is a mission oriented church that’s just a couple miles away. Now I am a traditionalist, and their 10 O’clock service is traditional with a touch of contemporary. It’s a beautiful combination! And — I can hurry back to my apartment and watch most of your 11 o’clock service on the internet. Praise the Lord!
So let me close by sharing some of my favorite scriptures. ( I feel sure that they are important memories of yours too) Psalm 121 –“I lift up my eyes to the hills — where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” I also treasure the many places in the New and Old Testaments when the Lord tells us that he himself goes before us and will be with us. He will never leave us nor forsake us. We are not to be afraid! And we are not to be discouraged! Says the Lord!
And last but not least I say farewell and send loads of love to you all! And as I ended many a vesper service at College Walk, I also end this meditation by reminding everyone that nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, can separate us from the love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!!!
Amen and amen. Happy 150th!!
