8:45 Celebration Service
Welcome
Welcome to our 8:45 AM Celebration Service, a contemporary music service in a casual setting that, for many of us, feels “just right”! Our service incorporates many of the elements of a worship service that you may be used to, but done in an interactive manner and heavily influenced by a spirit of CELEBRATING the presence of God our Father, His Son Jesus, & the Holy Spirit with us. There is nothing more joyful than worshipping together, in the presence of the One whom we worship!
You will experience some or all of the following in the Celebration Service:
- Upbeat contemporary praise music
- Contemplative contemporary music selected for appropriate moments in our service
- Time to share praise-worthy news or challenges from our own lives, in the context of praying for & over each other
- Communion with our Lord & with each other
- Time for the children in our service to both be seen & heard, as a lesson based on the Pastor’s topic is presented in a way that reaches them
- Reflective & inspiring videos, selected from contemporary Christian media sources
- Max & George: puppet theater for the children & the child-like!
- Responsive readings
- Scripture & lesson from one of our great Pastors or a guest speaker
What is important to us in our Celebration Service?
- Of greatest importance is a focus on worshipping our mighty God, with due reverence bathed in joy!
- A welcoming fellowship for everyone of all backgrounds, ages, and church histories
- A family-embracing atmosphere, with tables to sit at making it easier to keep young ones occupied & engaged
- A comfortable atmosphere where we can share our life’s joys & concerns: we are among not only friends, but brothers & sisters!
- Theological soundness in a casual, contemporary context
- Great music!
How can I serve?
After being a part of our service a few times, you may be interested in serving in one of the following areas:
- Greeter
- Seasonal altar & room decorations
- Serving Communion
- Worship Planning
- Audio/Visual team
- This team works closely with Dan Toot, the worship & music leader, to ensure song lyrics, announcements, & videos are accurate & presented clearly
- Practice with our music team to coordinate lyric slides & help with music team sound balance; run the A/V during the service
- Helpful qualifications: an ear for musical balance, an eye for appealing presentation of text & other media, & patience dealing with an occasionally miscreant sound system!
- Music Team, under the leadership of Dan Toot
- We are always on the lookout for folks who are both musically talented & energetic about serving the Lord & the congregation through that talent
- Vocalists & instrumentalists are welcome! The instrumental makeup is relatively standard for contemporary Christian music, based on electronic keyboard, guitar(s), electric bass, drumset, & saxophone.
- Male & female vocalists are welcome; an ability to sing in harmony with each other is important to our team
- The team generally uses full sheet music, although chord charts are available for almost all of the pieces in our library. An ability to read & follow these sources is critical.
If any of these areas is of interest to you, please reach out Debra Gaddy.
