FOLKPSALM
September 24; Following the 11:00a.m. service; Brevard FUMC
FolkPsalm will be at FUMC on September 24. The well known music group will sing a couple of Psalms during the 11:00 worship service, and present a concert at 1:15 in Fellowship Hall. Church Life will be serving a picnic lunch at noon. Reservation forms are coming soon. For the scholarly and curious, Charles Pettee will talk about how he goes about writing these tunes, the process of translating the Psalter, the who/what/where of FolkPsalm during Sunday School hour (10 AM) in the chapel.
Charles Pettee and FolkPsalm offer an exciting and entertaining concert of bluegrass and new acoustic music featuring Pettee’s settings for various Old Testament Psalms. FolkPsalm features the talents of renowned professional musicians from NC, including FUMC member Brittney Whitmire. FolkPsalm very recently appeared on the main stage of the Wild Goose Festival. Recordings of the groups’ Psalm singing can be heard on their CD recordings: A Dove on Distant Oaks, The Way Of Manna, Steady Love and True Wealth.
